SO’09: Photos @ Flickr

It’s been a busy two weeks, then I had to battle a fever for a few days, but I finally uploaded my ScienceOnline’09 photos onto Flickr.

I’m going to rest now.

    Hi Alex,
Wow, so many of these are just simply beautiful. Could I trouble you to repost two from the winetasting in my post? I will, of course, direct people to this post and your collection.

Thank you so much for coming and taking these pictures – you really captured the camaraderie well.

Lovely photos, Alex! You’re making me reconsider getting a compact point-and-shoot for a ‘real’ camera like yours. The detail is fantastic.

My favorite quote from my first photography book is, “The camera is only as good as its photographer.” The main advantage with my camera is the much cleaner noise in low lighting, the large dedicated flash, RAW shooting mode, rapid shooting, and instantly ability to impress people and even make the photographer appear sexy. It is an expensive investment and bulky setup.

It’s probably more worth your while to learn some photography concepts and guidelines, and how to use the controls in your camera to that effect.

There are some quite good compact cameras, for instance I’ve read some positive things about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3.
